Isn’t this the truth? or is it? The year 2020 began like any other New Year. We celebrated with a bang, my husband and I went on vacation to Baltimore the end of February, and then….
COVID 19 hit and by the middle of March our world had come to a screeching halt. In the midst of not being able to go anywhere, and for a couple weeks, here in Onondaga county(central New York), we were only allowed to be out on certain days of the week depending on where your last name fell in the alphabet. All that to say, I’ve had a lot of time to think about worry, anxiety, and fear. Not only think about, but experience those emotions as well.
Where do I turn? How do I cope with all that is whirling around me?
My go-to is the Word of God, simple, but so hard to put into practice. A very well-known verse I’ve known for a long time is
…casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
How often over the years I have focused on ‘casting all your anxieties on him.’ When all along God certainly wants us to do that, but my center of focus has turned to ‘because he cares for you.’ The Creator God of the world knows me, sees me, and cares for me.
Over the next few weeks, I am making it my goal to write more here at Jody Lynne. My posts for this year have been few, I want to change that. I want to talk about fear, worry, and anxiety and where we can find help for our weary souls. In the midst of an election year, social unrest, and the ongoing pandemic, where can we turn to find rest? Less anxiety? Less fear? Less worry?
I hope you will read along.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one to save; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will quiet you with his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
