“…and the woman in the town who was a sinner found out that Jesus…”
When I get to heaven I want to meet ‘the woman’ Luke describes in Luke 7:36-50. Jesus has come to eat at a Pharisees home, where he is relaxing and reclined at a table.
I want to give her a heavenly hug because she was desperate to get to Jesus regardless of her gender, job or the looks others were giving her, or what the ruling Pharisees thought of her.
She has no qualms about washing the feet of Jesus with her tears and wiping them with her hair or kissing His feet and anointing them with fragrant oil. She loved Jesus, not in an erotic way…remember she was ‘the woman’ a sinner, probably a woman of the evening hours, not dressed in a business suit with shoes and handbag to match, but a short red skirt, stilletto heals and bright red lipstick.(21st century version)
I want to meet a woman who knew her sin, many sins (v.47), and knew Jesus would love her and forgive her sins. Her faith saved her and she was able to go in peace. (v.48)
There are many women of the Bible I would love to meet, but this nameless woman is the first one I will look up because she …loved much.
