Intersecting Life and Faith

Happy, Happy, Happy

A re-post from last summer.

I have been keeping company with the Lord this summer, abiding in Him by reading, studying and meditating on Psalm 119. It has been a slow, thorough time of finding how to be happy! I want to know my Lord better so I have put away most of my books…except for what I read at my mom’s. I have many books and I love to read, but this summer I have been focusing on Psalm 119 with 20 pages of notes so far and I’m only through verse 74.

I have found real rest.(Matthew 11:28-30)

I want to be able to say with the Psalmist

…I want to dwell in the house of the Lord and in His Word is what I desire, I want to gaze on His beauty and seek Him everyday.(Psalm 27:4)

There have been too many distractions lately that have  interrupted the fellowship I want with the Lord. I want to know Christ, I want to gain Jesus and consider everything else as loss. (Phil. 3:7-8)

As I have spent time in Psalm 119 I have found that loving God with all my heart, mind and soul and my neighbor as myself is where happiness lies.

How happy are those whose way is blameless, who live according to the Lord’s instruction. Happy are those who keep His decress and seek Him with all their heart. (Ps. 119:1-2)

Will I be putting all my books away? Nope! But I will be spending a lot more time in Psalm 119. Doesn’t everyone want to be happy?

Thank you Elaine for your sweet words.

I hope to gain some of that happiness as we leave for vacation tomorrow. Taking my Bible and my journal and that’s about all. Hugs to you, dear friend, Jody. I love your blog.

Psalm 119 is one of my favorites!

Happy is good and a result of that deep bond. I will listen for a “joyful noise” !
