I finally decided to sit down and take a few minutes to write. My last original post was a few weeks ago and I did make a pledge earlier this year to write on a more regular basis. Who knew wedding plans would occupy every neuro-pathway in my brain?
I sat down to write about the upcoming wedding ceremony and reception of one of my daughters, but looked in my draft folder first to see what posts I have mulled over. I found I had thought about this for a while. I don't remember if its original with me, I highly doubt it, but it is a question marked in James in my Bible.
James 3:1-12 am I cursing image bearers?
What a timely thought as we all woke up to unspeakable tragedy on this past Sunday morning, June 12. A lone gunman went into a night club in Florida, killing forty-nine people, plus the killer, wounding that many more. I cannot imagine the horror and devastation the loved ones are feeling. I really don't have the brain capacity to elaborate much on this evil. I've watched the news, scrolled through my Facebook feed, and read several articles on this...words truly escape me about how to put into words such evil.
As a follower of Christ, I have tried to live according to the greatest commandment, which is to love God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul. The second greatest commandment, to love my neighbor as myself. I have also wanted to live proclaiming the light and not cursing the darkness. Not always successful everyday, but these are lifelong goals. I also believe we are all made in the image of God, male and female, made in God's likeness. (Genesis 1:27-28, James 3:9)
