Stones of Remembrance

unnamed (7) In the women's Sunday School class I lead we have been in the book of Joshua for six months. Yes, coffee is never far from studying and yes, that may seem like a long time in one book, but if you know anything about Mr. & Mrs. Gates, we love the Word of God and take our time going through it. Joshua is most famous for chapter 1, verse 9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
But did you know there are seven times the Israelites are told to use stones to build a monument so they may remember what God taught them? Shelly, in the pink dress, had a fabulous idea of what we could do to wrap our time in Joshua. We built our own monument to place on the table. She suggested we think about what God had taught each one of us from studying the book of Joshua. We always have a great time together laughing, studying, fellowshipping and learning more of our Great God every Sunday Morning. If you're local you may want to join this crazy group of women.

Shelly brought the rocks and a Sharpie so we could write one or two words on the rock summarizing our thoughts about Joshua. And no, none of these ladies knew I would be blogging about them. 🙂

A great way to begin a Sunday morning, Bible study, good friends and coffee. It doesn't get any better than that. For my local readers there will be no class next week because we will be gathering in the Sanctuary to hear our international worker speak as we kick off our Global Outreach Conference. In two weeks, October 5, please join us as we begin our new study Women of the Word, How to Study the Bible with Both OUR HEARTS and OUR MINDS.
