How bizarre is this…I wrote this post a year ago reflecting on the birthdays of Lauren and Rob, which we celebrated over the weekend. As I write it is past midnight, I should be in bed, but I can’t sleep. I was looking through the archives of blog posts from a year ago and here I was blogging at midnight. Guess it’s time for a repeat. Original posts to follow in the coming week. The past couple of weeks have been stunning with the temps in the 70′s and the sun shining for days on end, which is unusual for upstate New York. Winter, with the S word, will soon be upon us, so I’m soaking up the sun as much as I can, which is the reason you haven’t seen many blog posts. The weather looks to be the same in the coming week, but I hope to get some writing done too. Until then…Happy Monday!!
I should be in bed, but the wheels are turning regarding a blog post, so here I sit, droopy eyed, hoping I don’t regret sitting in front of the computer this late at night. In a few hours, (writing this just before midnight) my fourth and last child will look at childhood in the rear-view mirror and march into teenhood, my spell checker doesn’t like that word, so it probably isn’t.
September 28 is a special day in our family as Lauren was born on her father’s birthday. It was so nice of her to be a week overdue so they could have the same birthday…I could hardly walk. Lauren celebrates 13 and Rob will be 50. You can read about his party here.
I’ve been thinking a lot about love lately. Just returning from visiting my mom, sisters and their husbands and kids, and longtime friends I’ve known all my life reminds me how much God has given me in the way of family and friends.
God has also given me a godly husband and four children I love so much I can’t put into words. I have spent many years trying to not worship them or put them on pedestals or put them in the place in my heart where only God should be. I love Rob, Justin, Hannah, Kelsey and Lauren so much.
And as I’ve thought about love, God, my heavenly Father has said
Jody, if you love your family and friends that much you are speechless at times, then think how much I must love you. Think about how great My love for you is. (1 John 3:1)
God’s love letter(the Bible) to a lost world is full of His demonstration of love to sinners like me. 1 John 4:7 is a good place to start, actually His love begins in Genesis where He let Adam and Eve live after they disobeyed Him rather than making them pay for their sin. (Genesis 3:15)
God showed His love in this way, sending His only Son into the world so that I might live through Him. ( 1 John 4:9) God loves me so much He made a way for me to spend eternity with Him.
The cuckoo clock is about to strike midnight so time to say goodnight and Happy Birthday to Rob and Lauren and remind you and me how much God loves.
She: I love you.
He: I love YOU!!
She: I love you MORE!
He: That’s easy, because I’m so loveable! (Names withheld to protect the one who thinks he is so loveable)
