I love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3 As for God, His way is blameless; the word of the Lord is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God...Psalm 18:30

As I write this post the news is on in the background with the breaking news of tracking down the Boston Marathon bomb suspects. The news out of West, Texas is also devastating as many people have lost their lives in an explosion at a fertilizer plant. The news out of our nation's capital is usually not very encouraging. For most of you reading this you are not personally affected by the the Boston tragedy or the wreckage in West,Texas. There is not a lot of good news on this Friday morning. These are horrific events that are holding our attention... Then there are those I know who are struggling to make it through this day. Cancer, no money in the bank, in a job you'd rather not be in, or your car has just bit the dust. If I look to the situations of our struggling nation or personal issues that don't have an immediate answer, I can be discouraged beyond belief...that is why I watch the news...and pray....that is why I turn to God's Word every single day and trust what He says. I know I can trust my Heavenly Father... The questions for me are not where is God or why did this happen? Those are questions for another day. Today, rather than focusing on the world around me, l am fixing my gaze on Jesus and His Word. Picking up the Living Word, sufficient for everything I need for life and godliness and trusting in a Heavenly Father who speaks to me today in His Word. Yesterday, I read Psalm 18, very comforting as I look to Him for my strength and courage.
