I spent part of my birthday money,(thanks mom) and bought this bag. It's not just any bag. I bought it from Freeset.
For the past couple of years I have been educating myself on the terrible tragedy(not strong enough word) of human trafficking.
There are an estimated 12.3 million people globally who have been stripped of their dignity through human trafficking. Trafficking occurs when powerful people coerce, abduct, or deceive the vulnerable in order to gain control and exploit them. It is modern day slavery. Freeset web site
I have read God in a Brothel-An Undercover Journey into Sex Trafficking and Rescue twice and recently finished Fierce Compassion: The LIfe of Abolitionist Donaldina Cameron.
God in a Brothel is not for the faint of heart, but tells the story of Daniel Walker as he worked as undercover investigator.
Donaldina Cameron was superintendent of a home in San Francisco that rescued girls and women from the clutches of men who sought to use them as sex slaves. If you're going to read a book this year, I would recommend this one. It is the story of a woman who followed God with all her heart into the dens and cribs of Chinatown where little girls and women were being held as slaves. She was one brave woman.
I'm not sure where God is leading me, I keep telling myself I don't want to just give money or buy products, but until God leads in another way, I will educate myself and you on modern slavery. Not taking place just in India, Southeast Asia, but Atlanta, Las Vegas, and maybe even under my own nose.
