Confessions of a Farmer's Daughter

February

Written By: Jody - Mar• 04•12

Before I write my February review I have something I am very thankful for…

tastebuds.

Several weeks ago I had a bad cold that put me on the couch for a few days and a nose that looked like this…

I recovered within a few days and was back to my “normal” self. I don’t get sick very often so didn’t give Rob’s cold he had all this past week a second thought. Cold #2 hit me like a lead balloon on Wednesday and my nose looked like this again. The sneezing, runny nose, headache is annoying but what I really hate is not being able to taste anything. Why bother to eat if you can’t taste it? Even worse, I can’t taste the coffee I so enjoy every morning.

By tonight(Saturday) I’m on the mend…so we had pizza and wings. No it wasn’t Zeno’s pizza, my hometown favorite, but the hot sauce on the wings cleared my sinuses and the pizza was yummy. So thankful for tastebuds and health.

February began with a bang with a surprise birthday party given by my family and friends. I turned 50 this month, celebrating for over a week. I was humbled by so many gifts, birthday wishes and cards. A picture from God of how loved I am by Him and His people.

I did get some reading in even though I was busy celebrating and splayed out on the couch from cold germs that invaded. I read

  • The Elements of Style Strunk/White/Kalman (HC)
  • How to Be an American Housewife Margaret Dilloway (L)
  • Get Published Schneider & Doyen (HC)
  • Wordsmithy-Hot Tips for the Writing Life Douglas Wilson (HC)
  • Jesus + Nothing = Everything Tullian Tchividjian (K)
  • Evangellyfish Douglas Wilson (HC)
  • A Gospel Primer for Christians Milton Vincent (HC)
  • A Holy Ambition John Piper (HC

I also walked 35 miles in my daily walks at the park, thankful this has been a mild winter.

February was a month to remember but I am reviewing every month for 2012 more for my remembrance, so I can look back at the end of this year and remember where the days went. Praying for the tornado victims in the midwest tonight since I can’t go and help…yet.
